If I had to pick one picture that describes Elias right now it would be this one;

Media_httpfarm6static_ofaud
Fuzzy haired smiley kid.

Elias is a tonne of fun right now. He likes to make people laugh. If we laugh at something he does, he will do it again and again and again.

He smiles and flirts with people while shopping ALL THE TIME. People always ask "is he always this happy?" Yes. He is. He is adorable and I love him to bits.

Fri, 26 Mar 2010 07:48:01 -0700 New Family Member http://www.paulandnic.com/new-family-member http://www.paulandnic.com/new-family-member We would like to introduce our new family member Eeeeeeeva (think Wall-E). Well, I will at least be calling her Eeeeeva. Paul, the boring family member wants to call her car. Pfft.
She is a 96 Dihatsu Charade. 1.5L, 4 Cylinder.  Her and Gi Joe (or BJ Joe, whichever is more appropriate at the time) our Commodore will be a good couple. She is a warm welcome to our family.

Mon, 01 Feb 2010 10:31:04 -0800 Sappy http://www.paulandnic.com/sappy http://www.paulandnic.com/sappy Paul, Elias and I have all been sick lately. Colds. IN SUMMER. Not sure what that is all about. Apart from the cold, all is going excellent. Elias is georgous as always. He can roll from his front to his back now - mainly because he hates being on his stomach for "tummy time". He also giggles alot more, which means Paul and I are constantly pouncing on him trying to get him to laugh. Under the neck and under his arms are the usual giggle spots. He wakes once at night around 3-4am, but that is fine by me. He feeds for 10-15 minutes then goes straight back to sleep. I wouldn't mind him waking up 3 times a night because then it means more cuddles with his mum. I love his cuddles. When Paul or I go into his room in the morning or after a nap he is so happy to see us. He kicks his legs, has a huge smile.. It is awesome to be someones whole world. He is my whole world. He has shown me what true happiness is. I love my family.

Fri, 09 Oct 2009 13:46:44 -0700 shitshitshitshitshitshitshit..... http://www.paulandnic.com/shitshitshitshitshitshitshit http://www.paulandnic.com/shitshitshitshitshitshitshit Our little man is a bit sick and has to stay in the 'special care nursery' for a while. You might notice in the photos that he has a bit of a yellow tinge to him... well, this morning/afternoon he had a whole lot of yellow tinge to him. In fact after the hospital did a blood test it came back indicating Neonatal Jaundice and showing the bilirubin levels to be well over the level that they start doing treatment at. To say the least Nic and I were scared and worried beyond words... regardless of all the comforting and explanation the hospital staff give you.. nothing prepares you for the simple fact that you are now sitting in a room without your baby in it... he is down the hall and you can't go and hold him or pick him up or anything except for his feeds every three hours. It is expected that he will be spending the next 24 to 48 hours receiving phototherapy, basically baking under some really bright blue lights.. they even have a special light that he lays on so he is getting it from both sides at once. The good news is that it appears to be making a huge difference and he is improving in colour and feeding better etc already.. he gets another blood test early tomorrow morning so we will see then how things are going... Every step of this journey, from the moment we found out Nic was pregnant, right up to now.. Nic has absolutely amazed me with how brave she can be, how strong she will make herself for the sake of everyone around her. Even when I can see that she is terrified and hurting inside, she holds it together until she is sure that both the baby and I are ok... only then does she let herself have a cry if she needs to. She is a seriously amazing woman and I am lucky to have her by my side and Elias is incredibly lucky to have her as his mother.

Thu, 08 Oct 2009 11:27:28 -0700 A little earlier than planned... http://www.paulandnic.com/a-little-earlier-than-planned http://www.paulandnic.com/a-little-earlier-than-planned As you may have noticed from Nic's recent posts. We have been expecting a new arrival in our house, well.. it appears that he could no longer wait and decided to pop his little head out (excuse that wording) 17 days prior to our expectations.. At 2.10am on Thursday 8th of October, Elias James came into our world.. Weighing in at 3060 grams and covering a total of 51cms of the ruler... I have no doubt that our very existence as we knew it will never again be the same. :)

I cannot begin to describe the degree of happiness, the level of inner peace, the sheer joy I have been feeling since this little guy came into my life.. Both Mum and Bub are doing fine.. and I have no doubt Nic will post some more about the wonderful experience of child birth.. at a latter date. But for now.. I am tired enough for four people.. going to bed...

Wed, 15 Apr 2009 06:32:21 -0700 First Baby Photos !! (i.e. Ultrasound) http://www.paulandnic.com/first-baby-photos-ie-ultrasound http://www.paulandnic.com/first-baby-photos-ie-ultrasound So Nic and I went for the 12 week ultrasound this morning... was pretty damn cool seeing the little critter bouncing around in it's cosy little home. From side on it's face looks like Casper McFadden, there was one front on face view we got though that we best not say too much about... pretty much a cross between an alien and satan himself.. crazy intergalactic devil spawn !!! At this age you can see the start of things like arms, legs, eyes and stuff... makes it all very real and makes me very happy.

Mon, 02 Feb 2009 10:05:05 -0800 Can't let ourselves get slack again.... http://www.paulandnic.com/cant-let-ourselves-get-slack-again http://www.paulandnic.com/cant-let-ourselves-get-slack-again Nic and I really have this terrible tendency to let websites fall into idle disrepair... Things get in the way, time gets away from you and next thing you know it has been months since you have posted anything up... kinda like some other bludgers we know :p No photos to add just yet, but we have completed all the "construction" side of the veggie gardens and the retaining walls out in the back yard, we even poked some seeds into the dirt to see what might happen. Considering the time of year we are looking at fast growing or autumn/winter crops.. so some asian greens and a variety of lettuce, plus some carrots, parsnips and onions... I think I might add some leeks, eggplants and maybe even a pumpkin in the coming weeks. I would love to get some serious herb action going (the legal kind... worse luck) but it really is the wrong time of year to start doing the herb thing.. I do have a chilli plant that looks like it is going to deliver the goods very soon though...  niiiiiicccceeeeee...... If only I could plant and grow steaks..... now that would be some worthwhile gardening !!! Steve, one of my brothers, dropped in to visit us this past week. He has a really busy schedule with the work he does and it was great to actually get him for a whole evening when he probably had some vastly more interesting offers on the table, he & I  managed to do some minor damage to a slab of Pale Ale while just shooting the shit and I really enjoyed it, was good. Now I just need to find a way to spend some time with that other brother of mine... if only because he knows his shit when it comes to the gardening stuff.. ;)   Ciao !!

Wed, 07 Jan 2009 22:50:08 -0800 Locust - Replagued.... http://www.paulandnic.com/locust-replagued http://www.paulandnic.com/locust-replagued The bloody locust has revisited us in the car, that or it has been breeding... I was driving along with Chris (Nic's little brother) and all of a sudden he starts jumping around in the seat and waving his arms like he was attempting flight. Turns out he had the / another grasshopper hanging onto him. He flicks the thing somewhere into the car where it now cannot be found. So.... Nic now refuses to get in the car, unless she absolutely has too (for instance dinner at "The Lappo"), and when she is in the car she sits, in a state of cat like readiness, with her feet on the seat and a shoe in her hand ready to swat anything that moves.. this does however create a great opportunity for laughs by flicking small balls of paper at her. She is adamant that we now need to sell the car....

Thu, 01 Jan 2009 10:54:01 -0800 New Year http://www.paulandnic.com/new-year http://www.paulandnic.com/new-year

Paul and I have just gotten back from a walk. Since Paul's parents visit over Christmas I have been feeling quite guilty about my eating and excercise habits. So as a new years resolution I have decided that I need to increase my overall fitness and wellbeing. Hopefully this will last a little longer than my previous efforts - I am not going to push myself as hard as I usually do. My usual all or nothing attutiude seems to only result in month long pig out fests and a significant amount of weight gain.

I just squished a flying ant that landed on my back. It's guts are all over a document with Paul's writing on it. Ooops? heh. There has been an invasion of ants in my house of late which is quite painful. If you do not rinse out your cup - ants attack. If you have grapes in a fruit basket - ants attack. This is the first time I have encountered a flying ant though. Prehaps the little suckers are evolving?

Earlier this week Paul and I spent a large sum of money on new sheets and a quilt cover for our bed (see below). I love it. The first night of using the sheets I thought the 1200 thread count sheets were a bad idea (they are so freakin' thick!) but now they are perfect.

Pretty pimpin huh? And on the subject of pimping I am off to play GTA IV. If you don't have the game, get it. It is all sorts of awesomeness.
