I present you Blondell, the Breville mixer.

I am all like this at the moment;

Haven't used it yet though. Everything you seem to mix needs butter. We don't have any butter. Tomorrow's mission will be to purchase some butter.

This picture describes the cruise. Relaxing and awesome. No cleaning or cooking, just relaxing. Paul and I loved it. Elias loved it. Most relaxing holiday you could do with a kid. The food was so delish. An example of my eating habits on the cruise were; Breakfast; bacon, eggs, hash browns, sausages, toast, fruit, muffins and croissants... Lunch; chicken pho, roast vegetable focaccia and cookies and cream cheesecake Afternoon tea; cakes, desserts and fruit. Dinner; Bread rolls with garlic oil and butter, sesame chicken wings, lasagna, butter chicken and a warm belgium chocolate cake. My plan was to exercise by butt off in the gym while cruising but uhh... that did not happen. Clothes that I wore on the ship a week ago no longer fit. But it was worth it.

Fri, 06 Aug 2010 13:13:42 -0700 Fatty Boom Baa http://www.paulandnic.com/fatty-boom-baa http://www.paulandnic.com/fatty-boom-baa I took Elias to get weighed at our local chemist today. The little fatty weighed in at 10kg!!! He also measures 75 cm in length! According to the growth charts in both height and weight he is bigger than 75% of all babies the same age as him. My little baby is turning into a big boy. My dad offered some supportive words tonight;
I'd rather too big then little. At least you can always put him on a diet.

No 1. Earth day paper from AlphaMom. I am looking forward to when Elias is old enough to do craft. I am not too skilled in that area, and feel a bit lame doing kids craft just for me.
No 2. So I am very behind the times with this one but - Free art!  So many cute pictures. So little printer ink.
No 3. Cupcakes. I have been a bit cupcake obsessed lately. The above are my new favourites. So cute!!
No 4. Felt animal mobile. And just felt animals in general. As previously mentioned me + craft = fail. I currently have felt sitting on my dining table for a monkey design and I just can't get started. Gah!
No 5. Monkey tattoo design! Heh. I can hear my mum freaking out now. Don't worry. I'd chicken out anyway.

Thu, 01 Apr 2010 07:41:23 -0700 Solids http://www.paulandnic.com/solids http://www.paulandnic.com/solids So Elias started on solids this week. Wasn't that an anti-climax? TV, books and other parents talk solids up as if it is SO much fun. If your idea of fun is smoshy food, spit, masses of filthy clothes and out right jaw locking food refusal - you really need to get out more.

Elias post carrot smosh. He did have a bib on.  He flipped it around without me noticing. P.S. Still would not trade being a mum for anything. Best. Job. Ever.

This week marks 3 years since we purchased this house. Even though a few problems have appeared since then, we still love this house as much as the day we first saw it. On our first inspection of the house, Paul and I were both like "wow, this is us". And it is. It is little. It is odd shaped. It is poorly layed out. It is falling to bits in many places. It is impractical. But we both still love it to bits. It is a house representation of us. Our dreams. Our faults. Our life. I am thankful that we have it. That we own it. That it is OURS. It is truly our home.

If anyone has a lazy $1.5-1.7 million laying around, feel free to buy me this farm. I'd love to have a free range/organic farm. I'd hate the climate in Tasmania but at least the chook poo wouldn't smell.

The only real problem would be that chickens are birds, and I do not like birds... with all their flapping and squarking carry on. I suppose Paul can deal with the chickens. I will look after my 13 alpacas.

Don't you just want to kiss his georgous little face? :D

I am guessing he must get his looks from his Mummy... hopefully he gets her brains too. I am truly blessed to have these two people in my life. Except when Nicola buys 'Fantales'.. the same day I have two wisdom teeth ripped out and can't eat solids.. cruel black hearted woman.... :p

Sat, 20 Feb 2010 13:35:24 -0800 Lucky bastard... http://www.paulandnic.com/lucky-bastard http://www.paulandnic.com/lucky-bastard Even when shit is getting me down and things in life start pissing me off for whatever reason... I go and look at Elias when he is asleep and it fills me with a peaceful happiness that is hard to put words to, I see Nic when she is feeding or holding him and it makes everything and anything worthwhile. The two people who give my life perspective, the ones that make me realise what is most important and what really matters. I am so very very lucky to have my family.

Tue, 15 Dec 2009 19:36:16 -0800 Post Post Partum Post http://www.paulandnic.com/post-post-partum-post http://www.paulandnic.com/post-post-partum-post Hi. Yes I have been slack at updating here. I have been running on blocks of sleep of no more than 4 hours so I consider that a pretty good excuse. My brain cannot handle anything complex (like stringing together sentences in a logical manner) so I have been avoiding updates like the plague. To make this easy I will just get to the point with the standard list of questions I get. How old is Elias now? 9 weeks. Where did you get the name Elias? Heh. The name was stolen from a cafe owner in Parramatta. Deep huh? How much does he weigh? At 8 weeks the fatty bom ba was 5.25kg. How is being a mum? Freakin' awesome. Do you enjoy it? Hell yes. Best thing that has ever happened to me. How was your labour? 12 hours of agony kthx. Any complications? Nope. My small hips and small feet did the job fine. Did you use any pain relief? Nitrous oxide (i.e gas). WHICH THEY TOOK AWAY. More on this later. Are you breastfeeding? Yes and loving it. Haven't even had a blistered nipple yet *knocks on every bit of wood in the house* How is Elias sleeping? During the day he is going 3-4 hours between feeds and at night 4-6 hrs. (last night he went 7.5 hrs!!!) Does he cry much? In the afternoons/evenings he is a little bugger. I am lead to believe this is commonly reffered to as the arsenic hour. Otherwise he is pretty good. Is Paul helping you out? Like a piece of toast. Are you going back to work? It is likely. Hoping for 12 months off though. That about does it for the common questions I recieve. I am in the process of writing a birth story to add to a few pregnancy websites I frequent. In recent times I have become a bit of a birth story junkie. I figure since I have read so many stories of others experiences the least I can do is share mine. I wasn't going to publish it on this website, but Paul has convinced me otherwise. You should see it added here in the next day or two.

Mon, 26 Oct 2009 07:23:17 -0700 'Hot Date' on Saturday night.... http://www.paulandnic.com/hot-date-on-saturday-night http://www.paulandnic.com/hot-date-on-saturday-night Earlier this year I joined the NSW Rural Fire Service. I did this for a number of reasons but mostly because I wanted to be a more active and inclusive member of our community and because I believe the work done by the RFS volunteers is sometimes nothing short of amazing, being associated with these guys was, in my view.. something I could be justifiably proud of. Not long ago now I completed my basic firefighter training and was issued my Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), this allowed me to make myself available for and to be called out to various emergencies such as fires and motor vehicle accidents. Here's a couple of pics of me in my 'yellows'...

Nothing like a man in uniform hey? (and I am definately nothing like a man in uniform...) Well, I have had a couple of small call outs and done some Hazard Reduction burns since then and I have got to say, I am even more impressed with the professionalism and effort put in by the volunteers of the RFS. Anyway, Saturday afternoon I get a phone call from the brigade captain asking if I am available for a 12 hour shift that night. I just got called up for my first major fire !! Yay !! Arrive at "the shed" (i.e. the fire station) at 5:00pm on Saturday night and roll out with a crew of five in one of our trucks heading for Kings Tablelands Road just south of Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains to do our bit on a fire that was burning across 650 hectares of National Park (with much thanks to the "National Sparks and Wildfires Service" ;)). Wow. What a night. 12 hours of near solid work, in and out of the truck probably 50 odd times in a night, dragging a bloody hose along while walking for a few kilometres behind the truck blacking out hot spots in the bush and walking around in the bush with a drip torch lighting up containment lines. By the time I got back to the shed the next morning (at 7:00am) I was completely and utterly exhausted and every muscle and bone in my body ached. But it was one of the more rewarding experiences of my life, doing good work with great people for no personal benefit. Doing something purely because it is the right thing to do. I urge anyone who is able to do so, to join their local brigade. They need you and you will benefit greatly from the experience. Some pics from the night, heaps more on our Flickr page

Mon, 28 Sep 2009 08:29:42 -0700 36 Weeks http://www.paulandnic.com/36-weeks http://www.paulandnic.com/36-weeks The baby is being incredibly cheeky. Last week, it was - what I believe - 100% engaged. Walking and rolling over in bed was quite uncomfortable. But then on the weekend, the little (big?) thing jumped back up again. Not impressed. Paul and I finished our antenatal classes on the weekend. The first session was bad. I was actually quite annoyed that we had spent 300$ and 8 hours of our time attending - but the second class was much better. We now know how to bath, wrap and have been shown the many ways to get the baby out of my belly. heh. We had our 36 weeks obstetrician appointment today. All seemed to be OK. They are now down to weekly appointments. They actually lost out appointment so we had to wait around for an hour until we were seen. Sucked but eh. At least the baby is healthy and they were able to confirm that I do not have crotch bugs. This weekend we have our tax appointment and a visit to my aunty & uncles to watch the NRL grand final. Then on Tuesday we are getting our gas hot water installed!!! Can't wait. Psssst: 36 week picture.

Yesterday we went for a tour of the maternity ward at Nepean Private. Both Paul and I were happy with the facilities. I get my own little fridge! And all you can drink juice! Awesome. Today we had an obstetrician appointment. All is going great. It is such a good feeling to come out of the appointment after being told everything is going excellent. They did blood pressure (120/60), belly measurements (23cm???), fetal heart rate (excellent) and my fat butt weight (59kg). I also spent a good hour claiming money back from Medicare today. Fun times. Not much else to update on. I'll get Paul to update with some pictures soon.

Wed, 07 Jan 2009 22:50:08 -0800 Locust - Replagued.... http://www.paulandnic.com/locust-replagued http://www.paulandnic.com/locust-replagued The bloody locust has revisited us in the car, that or it has been breeding... I was driving along with Chris (Nic's little brother) and all of a sudden he starts jumping around in the seat and waving his arms like he was attempting flight. Turns out he had the / another grasshopper hanging onto him. He flicks the thing somewhere into the car where it now cannot be found. So.... Nic now refuses to get in the car, unless she absolutely has too (for instance dinner at "The Lappo"), and when she is in the car she sits, in a state of cat like readiness, with her feet on the seat and a shoe in her hand ready to swat anything that moves.. this does however create a great opportunity for laughs by flicking small balls of paper at her. She is adamant that we now need to sell the car....
